WhatsOnStage ‘Best New Musical’ winner heads back on the road following acclaimed runs in London and New York.

Following smash-hit seasons in London’s West End and Off-Broadway, Heathers The Musical — winner of the WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Musical — is returning to UK and Irish stages on a major new tour.
Produced by Bill Kenwright Ltd and Paul Taylor-Mills, the cult musical phenomenon will once again invite audiences inside the cut-throat corridors of Westerberg High, home to the most feared clique in 1989: the Heathers.
The story follows Veronica Sawyer, an ordinary teenager dreaming of a better life, who finds herself unexpectedly drawn into the orbit of the three impossibly cruel and beautiful Heathers. Her sudden rise to popularity takes a darker turn with the arrival of J.D., the mysterious teen rebel who teaches her that while it might kill to be a nobody, it’s murder being a somebody.
Adapted from the iconic 1988 cult film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, Heathers The Musical has built a devoted global fanbase thanks to its razor-sharp wit, unforgettable score and fearless approach to some of the darkest corners of teenage life. Wickedly funny, deliciously dark and packed with big musical moments, the show has become a modern-day phenomenon, celebrated for its bold storytelling and electrifying staging.
The production tackles weighty themes with characteristic black humour, and audiences should note that it contains haze, loud noises including gunshots, flashing lights and strobe effects, strong language and mature content including references to murder, suicide, sexual violence and eating disorders. The show is recommended for older teenage and adult audiences.
