The Woman in Black at Theatre Royal Glasgow

The Woman in Black at Theatre Royal Glasgow

One of the most successful and longest running theatre shows in the history of London’s West End,this gripping production is a brilliantly successful study in atmosphere, illusion and controlled horror.

Now seen by over 8 million people worldwide, The Woman in Black continues to delight and terrify audiences of all generations.

Obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a Woman in Black, Arthur Kipps engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his terrifying story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul.

The Woman in Black was a highly successful West End show and it’s easy to see why. Whilst I semi-guessed the ending, I was still taken by surprise by what finally happened in a narrative that is first class from start to finish. The production and acting cannot be faulted and I was completely hooked throughout. There were shocks aplenty – causing some of the audience (possibly including me and Shez) to emit high-pitched screams, and moments that messed with your mind, making you doubt what you thought you were seeing or hearing.  Ultimately, this is theatrical storytelling elevated to the highest art form and, whilst it’s definitely not a Christmas show, I recommend you get yourself along when it rolls into your town.
